If you are looking for a great entry level metal detector that really finds treasure, then look no further than the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV.

The Bounty Hunter Tracker IV is an easy and inexpensive way to get into the great hobby of metal detecting. It was my first metal detector and it had me hooked within minutes of use. It is lightweight and reliable.  Different search coils are also available for this machine making it fully customizable to all of your metal detecting needs.  There is a Bounty Hunter 10 Inch coil will allow you to get more depth when searching for treasure. There is a Bounty Hunter 4 Inch coil which is great for gold nugget hunting.  So no matter what kind of metal detecting you want to do the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV has you covered.

My back yard had become a testing zone for new Tracker IV and I was digging everything that made a sound. I found lots of things including my first coin which was a Wheat Penny. I was amazed and hooked!

The Bounty Hunter Tracker IV has three modes of operation.

  1. All metal mode – Easy enough! All types of metal will be found using this mode.
  2. Tone ID – In this mode of operation the tones or sounds generated by the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV will identify the buried target!
  3. Discrimination Made – This mode of operation will allow you to ignore junk but still find the treasure.
It takes two nine volt batteries to operate this unit and they will last quite a long time. I found over 100 dollars in change in a little over a month with my Tracker IV. I also found one ring and a lady’s diamond watch. The only problem I had with it was at the beach. It did not like to get wet. If saltwater got on the coil it would give me false signals but that’s ok it works fine in the wet and dry sand at the beach.

Garrett ACE 250 Finds Indian Penny

Sometimes doing a little bit of research can help you find old treasure and that’s just what I did and My Garret Ace 250 found a first.

I love searching for and finding old coins, you could call it a hobby, addiction or obsession it doesn’t really matter. The fact is I enjoy collecting coins and finding a nice old coin with your Metal detector is a blast. They do make metal detectors that specialize in finding coins but my Garrett ACE 250 seems to get the job done quite well.

I did some research on a local area that I know has a little bit of history.  I used my computer to locate a historic area that I hoped had not been cleaned out. It was a strip of old railroad track that had at one time been a railroad station.  I also asked some locals that had been around for a while about this area and they told me what I wanted to hear and that was that at one point in time  there was a railroad station that was the central hub of this small town and it has long since been gone.

Upon arrival, I noticed that all that was left of the station were the train tracks. There was no building foundations or any signs that a train station had ever existed.  I cranked on my Garrett ACE 250 and started working the area over. It wasn’t long before I got my first signal. The LCD screen said it was a nickel just a few inches deep.  I dug a small plug and pulled out the nickel. It wasn’t old. I put it in my pouch and continued my search. I worked my way closer to the tracks. I searched for a long time and right when I was about to give up, I got a faint signal. The LCD screen said it was a penny at over 8 inches deep. I will dig up anything even pennies because you never know. I dug a plug and searched the hole. No beep. The coin must be in the plug. I carefully pulled the small plug of earth apart and out pops an INDIAN HEAD PENNY! See it helps to do a little bit of research!
