Tesoro Sand Shark Review – Metal Detecting

If you want to find some buried treasure at the beach, then you need a good Beach Metal Detector. The Tesoro Sand Shark is more than that it is a Great Beach Metal Detector.

Underwater Metal detectors are not cheap but they will pay for themselves very quickly especially if you enjoy the hobby of metal detecting. I wanted a water proof metal detector. I wanted one that would work in salt water with no problems and I did not want to spend $1000 or more. The Tesoro Sand Shark was my choice and I am glad I got it. I can’t say anything bad about this metal detector. It is easy to use and lightweight. It will make you work for your treasure as it goes very deep! I have found a pair of sunglasses buried over two feet deep and a pocket knife even deeper! Basicly if it’s metal and it is under your search coil, the Tesoro Sand Shark will find it.

The sand shark takes 8 AA batteries and they will last a very long time, incredibly long. That is a very good strong point. No one wants to buy batteries every week!  It is very simple to use. It has two modes of operation. Normal Mode and VCO Mode. In normal mode the metal detector gets louder as the target gets closer to the search coil. I love the VCO mode. VCO stands for Voltage Controlled Oscillator. What????? It’s very simple, in vco mode the pitch changes as you get closer to a target. The closer the target the higher the pitch, this makes it very easy to pinpoint your target.  You can change the starting pitch to your liking.

The Tesoro Sand Shark is a PI or pulse induction metal detector. It has no discrimination. Some people see this as a bad thing. I can tell you from my own experience, if you are using discrimination on your metal detector then you are missing gold and platinum. If you don’t know what discrimination means in metal detecting lingo, it’s quite simple. Some metal detectors will ignore certain trash items like bottle tops and pull tabs and you might be thinking well I don’t want to dig those up anyways. I did a test with another metal detector in discrimination mode. I have a large platinum ring that I found with the sand shark. The Sand Shark goes nuts over the platinum ring, guess what the other metal detector in discrimination mode did.. Absolutely Nothing. It would not detect that platinum ring in discrimination mode.  If you want to pass up gold or platinum then by all means go ahead, that means there will be more for me!

In two short weeks my Tesoro Sand Shark has paid for itself. Yes I have found loads of bobby pins and other trash, hell I even found a street sign waist deep in the ocean, but I have also found loads of change! I know your saying big deal you found some loose change. That loose change adds up very quickly. In these two short weeks I have also found 1 gold Ring, 1 one silver ring and a huge platinum ring that is worth more than the Tesoro Sand Shark, all of this in just under two weeks. Some might think…. ahh that’s just luck. Nope it’s a great machine. I almost forgot one of the best selling points. It comes with a LIFETIME WARRANTY! THERE IS NO OTHER That does that!  The Tesoro Sand Shark. Get one here!

Finding treasure with your Bounty Hunter Tracker IV

Let’s take a look at what my Bounty hunter tracker IV has found.

I started metal detecting about 3 months ago. My son had a cheap child detector that we used in the backyard recovering nails and screws and I thought to myself, this could be fun if I had a better metal detector. Being that I was just starting metal detecting, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money but I wanted to get a decent metal detector so I did some research and found the Bounty Hunter to be within my price range. I got it for right around 100 bucks and so my new hobby or addiction had begun!

I started off getting to know my new detector by using it in my backyard. It was fairly easy. I just turned it on and started moving the coil back and forth as I walked very slowly through my yard, then it happened, the metal detector beeped! I went back over th area where it beeped trying to determine exactly where the buried item was. I started by xing a target. I would swing the coil from right to left and then away from me and then towards me until I had a good idea of where it was. I got out my little garden trowel and began to dig waving the coil over the piles of earth and back over the target area until I had the signal out of the ground. Low and behold it was a quarter! I was hooked! I thought to myself wow there must be money all over the yard, then my thoughts started to wander and I thought what about playgrounds or even the beach!

Over the next few months I found so much stuff! Garbage, money, some war relics, some jewelry. I was amazed at how much stuff I had found and think of what you can find in your neck of the woods. I would reccomend the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV to anyone just starting in this hobby. You can get one right here!

Take a look at all of this money I found!
