I love to spend a day at the beach, there are just so many good things about it! The view is always good, the water refreshing and if you like to metal detect like I do, then the beach is one of the best places to find gold and that is exactly what my Minelab Excalibur found today! The weather was perfect today! The sky was a rich blue with streaks of white clouds that looked as if they were painted with a cotton tipped brush, the air temperature was around 80 degrees, the water temperature was around 70 degrees and the tide was working it’s way out. This left behind a ton of exposed beach with plenty of opportunities to find buried treasures of all kinds.
I cranked on my Minelab Excalibur and started working the low tide line. The sand felt good underneath my bare feet as I walked north keeping my coil close to the ground and listening for that wonderful beep that signals treasure has just passed underneath my coil.
It is easy to lose track of time as the beach passes and the birds fly overhead and I often do just that. I had been finding quite a few coins that seem to be scattered all over the beach. Then I hit what I like to call a ” Sticky spot”. This is an area of beach where every foot or so you find a coin and they have been lost at sea for quite a while. The color of the coins is always a good indicator, they are often green with corrosion. I was digging coins like mad, my pocket was full of them, then my Minelab excalibur gave me a faint signal just barely audible. It must be a deep target. I pinpointing the spot easily and starting digging with my beach scoop. One scoop revealed that I was getting close to the target. The next scoop and the hole was empty so whatever was giving my the signal had to be in my sand scoop. I dumped the sand out and laying right on top was this gold ring with seven small diamonds.
It is an amazing thing to find some gold on the beach while metal detecting. If you want to try you need to look at the Minelab Excalibur. It will find gold and silver jewelry and coins. You really can’t go wrong with one.
